Shop 3 products →We read every ingredient list. When a product says it meets a standard, we look for the certification behind the claim. What you choose from there is up to you.
Because “clean” means different things to different people. Some of you want cruelty-free and vegan, others want regenerative animal ingredients like grass-fed tallow. We vet every product for its ingredients either way, and use certifications so you can shop by the values that matter to you.
Getting certified is expensive and can take a long time. That’s easier for big brands than for small, independent makers, many of whom make products that would qualify. Carrying only certified brands would mean leaving them out.
The same way we vet everything. We read the full ingredient list, check it against the ingredients we avoid, and ask the brand when something isn’t clear. A certification is an extra, independent check you can filter by.
Want more detail on a specific product? Send us a message and we’ll fill you in.
We choose products for what’s inside first. Some of the cleanest formulas we’ve found only come in plastic, especially from small brands, and leaving them out would mean fewer good options for you. When there’s a glass, aluminum or refill version, we look for it.
To help close the loop on hard-to-recycle packaging, we have a TerraCycle bin at Dome Market, 37 State Street, Newburyport. Bring back the empty beauty and cleaning packaging from products you bought from us, and it will be recycled instead of going to landfill. Learn about TerraCycle →
